In 1998, GreatSchools was created to leverage the power of the internet to engage parents more deeply in their children’s education. Initially, GreatSchools was a guide to Silicon Valley schools, reaching 3,000 visitors in the first year. Today, GreatSchools is the leading national source of school performance information for parents, reaching 50 million unique visitors and half of American families with children.
Along with profiles of more than 200,000 Pre-K–12 schools and more than one million parent and community ratings and reviews of schools, GreatSchools provides information, activities and tools that help parents get the best possible education for their children.
We work to help parents find high-performing schools that will be a good fit for their family, including families that have children with learning and attention issues. In addition, since choosing a great school is just one of the decisions parents face, we provide other advice and resources to help parents guide their children to great futures—at home and at school.
